About This Camp

The Dooly County Deer Camp began the weekend of Jan. 2-4, 2015 with hosts Harmony Baptist Church and Redhawk Plantation. The wheels began to turn for hosting this Camp when former pastor Sid Davidson received some information about 30-30 Ministries and shared it with a few sportsmen in the church. That small group reached out and requested an in-person meeting with Director Brad Gill and Board Member Chuck Hester. After sharing a little more information about the ministry and how they could take steps to host their first Camp, plans were made to host the inaugural Camp.

The first nine Camps, from 2015-2022, were hosted at Redhawk Plantation, and hunting took place on nearby properties in Dooly, Wilcox and Pulaski counties. A CAMO Sunday Service has always been held at Harmony Baptist Church.

The Deer Camp moved all activities to Harmony Baptist Church beginning in October 2023.

Camp Managers

Troy & Shannon Davis

Troy and Shannon Davis, of Cochran, saw their first-ever 30-30 Ministries’ Camp the weekend of Nov. 21-23, 2014 in Morgan County. From that Deer Camp, Troy would go on to serve in Camps, mostly in the role of a devotional leader. Shannon was always at his side for support.

The weekend of Oct. 8-10, 2021 would mark the first time Troy and Shannon would come together as Camp Managers when they facilitated the Dooly County Deer Camp with hosts Harmony Baptist Church and Redhawk Planation. They have since managed several other Camps and always have a heart to travel to new Camps and encourage them.

Troy and Shannon were married Feb. 14, 2011. Troy said he thought he was saved his whole life but now looks back and believes it wasn’t until he was in a drug rehabilitation center in 2014 when he surrendered his life to Jesus. Similarly, Shannon made a decision at an early age but says it wasn’t until 2011 when she dedicated her life to Christ. Troy is the pastor at Christian Friends Baptist Church in Hawkinsville.
