Houston Co., Ga. Deer Camp
Dr. Don Spillers

About This Camp
The Houston County Deer Camp began the weekend of Dec. 13-15, 2013 with host Dr. Don Spillers. That first Camp was hosted at a home owned by Don and his wife, Cheryl, on Lake Blackshear in Crisp County. Four campers hunted properties in Sumter, Macon and Houston counties. One of those campers was Brandon Key, a young man who lost his life in a UTV accident on Sept. 20, 2015 that would later lead to the Brandon Key Catfishing and Fishing For Salvation tournaments, along with a relationship with Jonathan West, which would lead to multiple new Camp partnerships.
Before that weekend in 2013, God was dealing with Don about getting involved in outdoor ministry. God’s plan unfolded when Matt Mize walked into Don’s orthodontic practice in Warner Robins, asking for a donation for an upcoming 30-30 Ministries’ Turkey Camp at Ruth Baptist Church in Bleckley County, Ga. It was that conversation that spurred Don to contact 30-30 Ministries about hosting a Deer Camp.
After Don’s first Deer Camp, he decided to move all future Camps to his farm in Houston County. In 2017, he added a Turkey Camp and currently hosts two Camps a year.
Camp Managers
Phil Collier & Hal Keels

Phil Collier first saw a 30-30 Ministries’ Camp the weekend of April 1-3, 2022 while at the Houston County Turkey Camp hosted by Dr. Don Spillers. Being completely on board with the spiritual fruit he witnessed that weekend, he brought his friend Hal Keels back to Don’s Deer Camp the weekend of Dec. 9-11, 2022. Their first stint as co-Camp Managers was at Don’s March 24-26, 2023 Turkey Camp. Currently, they serve as Camp Managers for both of Don’s Houston County Camps.
Hal said that he accepted Christ as his savior in 1980, while Phil did so in 1968. However, both share that it was later in life as young adults when they truly sold out to Jesus and began to serve Him with their whole hearts. Hal says it was during those times when Jesus truly became Lord of their lives.
Hal and Phil are both members of Windmark Beach Church with Senior Pastor Scott White, who has spoken at several 30-30 Ministries’ Camps. WBC is a church plant of Hiland Park Baptist Church in Panama City, Fla.
