Trout & Turkey Camp
Chattahoochee Baptist Church
About This Camp
Trout Camp began the weekend of May 4-6, 2012 at the home of Sidney Roland along the banks of the Chattahoochee River. The following year turkey hunting was incorporated into the weekend, and it officially became the ministry’s first Trout & Turkey Camp combo. That weekend was hosted at the North Georgia Christian Camp the weekend of April 19-21, 2013.
For several years, the Camp host changed from the North Georgia Christian Camp, Harvest Christian Church and Hill’s Crossing Baptist Church. In 2021, Chattahoochee Baptist Church showed interest in hosting the Camp. It was then the long-time Camp moved from Habersham County to White County.
This Camp was planted in the heart of Dale Thomas when he attended a Turkey Camp through God’s Great Outdoor Ministries at Crossroads Baptist Church in Eatonton the weekend of March 20-22, 2009 with his daughter, Maggie. When Dale left the Camp, he told Brad Gill, current 30-30 Ministries’ Director, “We need to do one of these back home.” Dale also hosts an annual 30-30 Ministries’ Bear Camp each fall, with his first one being Oct. 12-14, 2012 at the North Georgia Christian Camp.
Camp Managers
Tony and Cindy Smith
Tony and Cindy Smith have been involved with 30-30 Ministries since Nov. 22, 2014 when they stopped by a Morgan County Deer Camp for lunch. Tony had been recently saved and felt led to share a portion of his testimony with the group of deer hunters.
After that Camp, the Smiths spent a few years faithfully serving at various 30-30 Ministries’ Camps and then felt God’s call to become 30-30 Ministries’ Camp Managers. Their first managed Camp was a Turkey & Trout Camp in Habersham County the weekend of March 24-26, 2017. They now manage several Camps throughout the year.
Tony and Cindy live in Newton County and were married Jan. 2, 1987. Tony was saved March 9, 2014 and was baptized March 16, 2014. Cindy was saved in the summer of 1984 and was baptized on June 11, 2021 at the 30-30 Ministries’ Shark Camp.
